• Location- lychee trees need to be planted in an area that is favorable for quick growth and where they can enjoy direct sunlight which is vital. Do not plant them close to tall buildings or trees because they will affect the level at which your trees are exposed to the sun. The ideal location should also be protected from strong winds to prevent trees from suffering damages.
• Soil- this is another important consideration because the type of soil the tree is planted on determines a lot how healthy and fast it grows. Good soil for lychee trees must be rich in organic matter, well drained and free from artificial components that hinder proper roots development.
• Understory plants- these are plants planted together with the trees and this must be completely discouraged because they might interfere with their growth. This is by way of competing for nutrients with the lychee trees which may result to poor or stunted growth and since this is not part of your expectations avoid as much as you can planting any other plants beneath your trees.

Time- be sure of when it is appropriate to plant your lychee trees to avoid doing it over the wrong season. The best time is in the late spring when there are no frosts but if rainfall is your main source of water then watch out for the long rain seasons.
